Cool Pool News – 2023 – No. 7

“Yippee” and “Yahoo”
The voices ring clear
School is out
And Summer is Here…

Warm days at the pool
In the water, or on a chair
Basking in the sun
Making friends everywhere!

SUMMER POOL HOURS BEGIN

Beginning on Friday, June 16, the pool will be open daily from 11 am-9 pm.

The only exceptions are the days we host swim meets (first one on Saturday, June 24),  then the pool opens at noon, or as soon as the meet is completed.  Pool members are welcome to come up and cheer for our amazing Barracudas Swim Team!

POPSICLE PARTY

To celebrate the first day of Summer vacation (from school) on Friday, come get a free popsicle from the Snack Bar area, any time from 6 pm-7:30 pm.  One per person please – and available to ALL kids (and we were all kids once…)

HAPPY HOUR

Every Friday from 6 pm, bring your own “happy” to the pool (just NO GLASS please) and enjoy the company of friends and neighbors at Kathy’s Korner.  Bring your own dinner, or purchase at the Food Truck, which is on-site every Friday generally from 5:30 pm to 7 pm.

FOOD TRUCK FRIDAY

Back by popular demand, this week come on over to Broyhill Crest Pool to enjoy delicious, authentic Italian food featuring spaghetti and meatballs, chicken caprese, chicken bruschette and more from From Tuscany with Love Food Truck. They will be in the pool parking lot from 5 pm-7:30pm serving up delicious pasta and Italian sandwiches. No pre-orders, just walk up and place your order!

COMING UP NEXT WEEK… so much to look forward to…

SWIM TEAM

BCRC’s Barracudas Swim Team will begin morning practices on Monday, June 19 before the pool opens to members. This may relieve some of the parking issues currently occurring in the afternoons, as the swim team practices until 7pm,

but the last day of afternoon practice is this Friday 16 June.

Also, if you are a member of the swim team, or an alumni, or a parent – check this out…

SNACK BAR

The Snack Bar at Kathy’s Korner is operated by the Swim Team and open throughout the day, for 15 mins during break time (11:45-noon, etc.) Snacks, drinks, ice-creams and microwaveable dining items are available for purchase, with all proceeds going to the Swim Team.

RICARDO’S LUNCH BAR – OPEN noon-2 pm WEEKDAYS

Some history – 14 years ago this lunch bar opened and operated for 8 years, from noon-2 pm, every WEEKDAY, through the end of July.  Operated by two volunteers, it closed (from exhaustion!) and after a 6-year break – IT’S BACK!

Beginning MONDAY, JUNE 19, Ricardo’s will be open for lunch noon—2 pm, Monday-Friday, selling hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, chicken burgers, chicken nuggets, snacks, beverages, Klondike bars and Luigi Ice. The Lunch Bar will be run by volunteers, so please be kind as we all learn our way around.  All proceeds will go to the pool, to fund the new Kathy’s Korner area and pool renovation.

If supplies run out, please understand that we will do our best to restock by the next day.  Payment will be CASH ONLY – and it is always appreciated when close to exact change is provided.  A great pool we are, a bank we are not!  Menu items and prices will be posted at Kathy’s Korner.

FLOAT NIGHT
Next Tuesday, June 20, will be the first Float Night of 2023.  Come to the pool at 6 pm and enjoy pizza by the slice, sold by the swim team!  At 7 pm, toss any inflatable float in the water and get ready to frolic with friends.  We look forward to seeing the amazing floats.  Float night ends at 8 pm (no break time!) but any time between 7:30 pm-8:15 pm, enjoy an ice cream float at Kathy’s Korner – still just $1 each.

FIRST SUNDAY NIGHT DINNER

Mark your calendars (or set an alarm if you are electronically inclined) for Sunday, June 25, 5 pm.  Come enjoy the first Sunday dinner – NEW ORLEANS’ SHRIMP BOIL – with sides and dessert (you MUST try the bread pudding and whiskey sauce!)  Kids meals also available.

OKAY – ONE GRUMBLE

As we continue enjoying our new pool renovation, we really want to keep it loved for years to come (or at least this season!)  The pool is not a wild animal park where everyone runs free – so please watch your kids (big and small). Somehow, another “accident’ happened, and one of the very-expensive water fountains was broken.  These are not cheap, nor easy to break…  Please respect the property at the pool – it is for everyone to enjoy.  Every “accident” costs money, and we strive to keep our pool affordable to all, but eventually everyone ends up paying for the running costs and maintenance.  Treat the pool as if it is your own personal property, and we will all be happier!

That’s it for this week.  Hope to see you soon 🙂
