Get out your red, white and blue
The day is almost here
For friends and family to enjoy
The Cool Pool with all its good cheer...

July 4th - Friday

The pool opens for members at 11am.  From 12-4pm, we welcome any community members who would like to enjoy our neighborhood back yard!  Invite friends and neighbors to come experience all that makes our pool so cool!
Food will be available for purchase from 12-2.30pm - CASH ONLY.  Come enjoy the traditional bike parade as kids proudly display their decorated wheels  - trikes/bikes/scooters - around the pool deck.  Anyone can enter - just register your bike at the gate by the pavilion anytime from 12 noon.

Following the bike parade, a few water games will be played, culminating in the ever-popular traditional greased watermelon competition.  Anyone 16 or over is welcome to join in the chaos and camaraderie - who will manage to hoist the watermelon up and onto the pool deck this year?  Swimming will then reopen to all for the rest of the afternoon.

The pool will close to all at 6pm, so everyone can have the opportunity to find a special place to enjoy the evening activities.

Please note - Parking may be full at our pool on Friday, but Cornerstone Church on Gallows Road has kindly offered their church parking lot for us to use.  Feel free to park there and follow the signs down to the walking path by the tennis courts and to our pool.  It's a quick and convenient walk!

July 3 - Thursday

The bike decorating party will be held in the pavilion from 4-7pm.  Bring your bike and your decorations and enjoy the fun on adorning your bike with friends new and old.  Share your decorations with others.  A few extra sparkles will be available and loads of tape and scissors!  Also, you can pre-register your bike and leave it overnight in the pavilion.

There is NO FOOD TRUCK this Friday since the pool will be closing at 6pm, and Food Truck Operators can enjoy the break, too.
Watch this space for next Friday....

July 7 - Monday

Our mighty Barracudas swim team are hosting a B-meet at our pool.  Therefore, the pool will closed to members at 5pm.  If you wish to swim that evening, we have a reciprocal agreement with Annandale Swim and Tennis Club on Little River Turnpike.  Any BCRC member can go there to cool off, while we host their swim team at our pool.

July 12 - Saturday

The Annual Adult Party - Summerfest - is fast approaching.  Purchase tickets in advance - details on the website.  It's a wonderful evening of Butts, Beer and Brats - the pig is roasted overnight down by the pavilion.  There's loads of food and beverages, live music (and the guy is FANTASTIC - we book him every year!) and late night swimming.  All over 21 are welcome - and it is a wonderful way to enjoy an evening out - within walking distance of home!  Invite your friends - you do not have to be a member of the pool to attend!

In order to make this a success, we do need volunteers to help out.  Check out the spaces available on the volunteer website - shifts are still available for overnight cooking of the pig.  Side dishes need to be supplied.  Sign up and get credit towards your volunteer hours, or just do it because volunteering is so good for the soul!

RULES RULES RULES

And so we nag - Please understand there is to be NO EATING ON THE DECK.  Water bottles are allowed, but no other drinks and absolutely NO FOOD anywhere inside the chain link fence that surrounds the pool and baby pool.  Food and pool water do not mix! We want to keep the deck clean, and as free as possible of bees and bugs.  When you wish to eat, please move to outside the pool areas.  It is a rule we enforce for the safety and enjoyment of all.

Also - if you have a child in armband floaties or any kind of floatation device, an adult must be WITHIN ARMS LENGTH of that child.  You cannot be swimming laps, or chatting on the deck with friends, as your child floats free.  The lifeguards are there to protect us all, but accidents can happen very quickly.  Your child is your responsibility and we want everyone to have a happy and safe summer.

Hope to see you soon!
