We will also have a few favorites such as Monopoly and Rummikub ready to go. There will be a snack table where you can bring a snack or two to share. Questions? Contact Jacob Gushue at jt.gushue@gmail.com.
Get ready for a treat this Friday, July 18, with the debut of Brunched Around the World Food Truck at Broyhill Crest Pool. Indulge in tasty options such as Shrimp n Grits, Shrimp Po Boy, Whiting Basket, Chicken N Waffles, Smash Burger…and sweet treats such as Funnel Cake Waffles in two flavors! The truck will be in the parking lot from 5-7:30 p.m. No pre-orders this week – so come early to get your favorites! Get to know your neighbors and dine al fresco up at Kathy’s Korner… a perfect way to end the work week. And even if you are not into the food truck, join us for Happy Hour, bring snacks and your favorite beverage (NO GLASS please!), relax, chill out, and have some fun with our fantastic community!
Congratulations to the Barracudas Swim Team, now 3–2 for the season. The team has a big week as they host their division’s rivals at the Divisionals meet on Saturday. All teams from the Barracudas’ division in the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL) will compete in an exciting, highly competitive meet for the Divisionals trophy. The swim meet begins at 8:30 a.m. and generally wraps around 2 p.m. All are welcome to come on up and support the team! Plan to purchase breakfast or lunch at the concession stand – and even buy one (or more) “Divisional Ducks!” – a true Broyhill tradition!
Preceding Divisionals on Friday, July 18, the Barracudas will hold a pep rally and pasta dinner by the pavilion beginning at 6 p.m. And following Divisionals on Saturday will be the team’s annual Award Banquet and late-night swim for team members.
Your Donation Fuels Fun, Friendship, and Our Future
In 2023, we made waves by transforming our bathhouse into a vibrant hub of upgraded amenities. We secured a construction loan of over $200,000 to make it happen. We're asking for your help to turn the page to an even brighter future. Tree care, regular maintenance, and a new pool cover keep our pool safe, clean, and FUN. But they’re costly. That’s why we’re diving into our biggest mission yet: Raise $200,000 to pay down the loan and secure the long-term health of our community pool.
Check out these splash-worthy donor tiers:
$500 – Waders
$750 – Paddlers
$1000 – Swimmers
The pool is more than a place — it’s a lifestyle. A meeting place. A memory-maker. Let’s make sure it stays that way. Jump in today and ensure the future of your neighborhood backyard!
Come on up to Kathy’s Korner on Saturday, August 23, 5:30-8:30 p.m., and join your Broyhill Crest Pool family for a spectacular Wine and Cheese Night. Enjoy wine, cheese, fun, friends – all while supporting the pool. This special fundraising event is for adult pool members, but kids can still swim, play, and frolic – while the adults are having their own kind of fun! The first 10 donors to the Fill the Pool Fundraiser will get two free tickets to this event. Tickets are $25 through August 21 and $30 after August 21.
A big thank you to all the BCRC volunteers who made the July 4th and SummerFest (Pig Roast) celebrations happy times for all the members and guests who attended. A special shout-out to BCRC Board Member Eric Fitzwater who spent countless hours organizing and cooking for our SummerFest feast.
Our July 4th Patriot’s Bike Parade was described as a “beloved Mason District tradition” in Mason Matters, a newsletter from Mason District Supervisor Andre Jimenez. A special thank you to our parade judges: Jimenez, VA Delegate Vivian Watts, Mason District School Board member Dr. Ricardy Anderson, and Broyhill Crest Community Association President Dana Riddlemoser.
If you were a fan of the swimsuit dryer, you’ve probably been mourning its demise. Mourn no more, a new dryer has taken its place! It was installed on Monday, 7/14. Now we can look forward to no more soggy suits at Broyhill this season.
Hope to see you soon!
Bev Schlotterbeck, president
