If you've checked the calendar lately
You may have noticed that
In less than four weeks, it will be
Time to don your swimsuit and hat...
Yes indeed - the 2026 Opening day at the Broyhill Crest Pool is approaching fast. And there is lots to do to get ready. Many hands make light work - and we hope you can help! But first, you must JOIN THE POOL!
Join the pool by 5/5 (that's just over 5 days away!) and receive 5 free guest passes - a $35 value!
All membership details and payment options available on the website.
Let the "kitchen is closed Fridays" begin - enjoy something different!
The 2026 pool season is kicking off in the most delicious way possible - The Cheesy Griddle! From classic steak & cheese and juicy burgers to crispy chicken sandwiches and gooey grilled cheese, their menu is packed with crowd-pleasing favorites (try the Cajun fries!) The truck will bein the BCRC Parking Lot (7212 Early Street) serving from 5-7.30pm.
Skip the line and pre-order by test: 703-717-3019
Include name, your order and desired pickup time (indicate pickup at Broyhill Crest on 5/1)
You will receive a confirmation text, and payment is made at pick up.
Come hungry and start the season cheesy! (even more so than the bad poetry in the Cool Pool News!)
Enough about good food - back to business...

Bring your work gloves, garden clippers, elbow grease and happy disposition. There are plenty of chores for all, and you will be guided to the one best suited to you! Help get the pool "spit-spot, spic and span" (channeling my inner Mary Poppins!) for the 2026 season. And you will notice that the pool looks "positively perfect" because ....

Activity has already begun at the the pool, and the white-coating of the pool has just been completed. You will find a completely new inner surface to both the main pool and baby pool. This involves emptying the pool entirely, and sanding down and resurfacing the pool - at the cost of over $52,000. And this has to be done every 6-8 years. Maintaining a pool is expensive. At the end of the season, we will also be purchasing a new pool cover at a cost of over $20,000. All this, and you haven't even got your toes wet yet!
We haven't forgotten the grounds, either. Among other projects, we’ll be extending the patio area outside Kathy”s Korner and renovating the brick patio area by the pavilion.
When you pay your dues, your board works very hard to budget for all the maintenance - known and unknown - that it takes to be able to pass inspection and open the pool. When we send information later about a Capital Campaign fundraiser, or we organize fundraising events at the pool, we really will appreciate your support! We attempt to keep membership fees as low as possible, but there are many expenses that cannot be covered by memberships alone. (Membership dollars also cover lifeguards and management, pool chemicals and maintenance products, the water bill, the power bill, etc.)
Watch this space for some fun ways coming up this summer, where you can support the pool and our very special pool community - Our Neighborhood Backyard!
Counting the days
And started the diet
So into my swimsuit
I may try it .... !!!!!
HAPPY SUMMER 2026 - it's on the way......
Can't wait to see you at the coolest pool in town very soon!
